2012 Tech Fair Keynote Speaker

Before retiring, Jerome spent 38 years as a high-school English teacher. His work with educational technology began when, as a new teacher, his principal gave him the choice of either chaperoning dances or becoming the advisor to the school newspaper. Though never having studied journalism, he had chaperoned a dance. Thus he became a pioneer of educational technology integration in the earliest days of desktop publishing.Toward the end of his teaching career, Jerome created the Google Lit Trips project, "as a paying it forward expression of gratitude to Mr. Kay, my own high school English teacher who changed the course of my life, and as an expression of gratitude for educators around the world who continue to inspire their own students as Mr. Kay inspired me."
His Google Lit Trips project has been featured in print and online by such notable organizations as Public Radio International’s “The World: Technology Podcast," The American Library Association, the School Library Journal, ISTE’s “Learning & Leading with Technology,” The George Lucas Educational Foundation’s edutopia, Open Culture: the best free cultural & educational media on the web” among others.
