Like all CUE affiliates, SGVCUE is governed by a Board of Directors which is elected to office as well as additional Board members who are appointed to office. Below are job descriptions for elected offices. Since change is a part of the life of any organization, it is important to remember that the responsibilities for each of the officers may include other duties not listed as each situation demands.
President
President will:
- Supervise and
control the affairs of the Organization
- Prepare
agenda’s for the board meetings and submit to other
Director’s for input before the meeting
- Call special
meetings of the membership
- Preside over
meetings of the members and Board of Directors
- Write checks
in the absence of the treasurer
- Write the annual report to the Board of Directors of Computer-Using Educators with assistance of other Directors and distribute to members
Vice President
Vice President will:
- Chair
meetings in the absence of the president
- Chair the
Tech Fair Committee
- Suggest
topics, speakers, and formats for general meetings of the
membership
- Maintain
liaison with schools, businesses, user groups, and other
agencies and organizations
- Participate
in board meetings
- Support other Board Members and organization activities as needed
Treasurer
Treasurer will:
- Keep
financial records using standard acceptable rules of
accounting
- Prepare and
submit necessary tax forms
- Report the
financial status to the sgvcue board monthly
- Prepare
financial reports
- Make bank
deposits
- Write checks
to pay incurred indebtedness
- Order and pay
liability insurance
- Prepare a
yearly budget for approval of the president and board
members for submission to parent cue
- Keep a
detailed report of expenses for all activities (tech
fair, coffee break sessions, other as needed)
- Generate
financial reports as requested by the board
- Collect,
record, and deposit registrations for SGVCUE activities
as necessary
- Participate
in board meetings
- Support other Board Members and organization activities as needed
Secretary
Secretary will:
- Record the
minutes of the meeting of the Board
- See that
notices are given in accordance with the bylaws or as
required by law
- Keep the
affiliate records
- Keep the
register of addresses furnished to the Secretary by each
member
- Perform all
duties incident to the office of Secretary perform other
duties as may be assigned by the President or by the
Board of Directors
- Participate
in board meetings
- Support other Board Members and organization activities as needed
Communications Officer–Print
Communications Officer will:
- Oversee and
facilitate the actions of the Communications Committee
- Supervise the
production of/or produce the quarterly print/email
newsletter ensuring that it is published and distributed
in a timely fashion
- Produce print
and pdf documents communicating the events of the
affiliate for members and non-members
- Participate
in board meetings
- Support other Board Members and the activities of the affiliate as needed
Communications Officer–Web
- Maintain and
keep current the SGVCUE web site
- Procure the
most recent membership data from the President to ensure
the affiliate is using the most up-to-date email address
for members
- Generate
traditional email to be distributed to member and
non-member contacts keeping them informed of events or
special notices
- Facilitate
the production of email campaigns using a service such as
Constant Contact
- Keep a
detailed report of the results of all email campaigns for
dissemination to the SGVCUE Board
- Participate
in board meetings

Support other
Board Members and the activities of the affiliate as
needed
